Bartók in his Time ˇ 1st to 3rd October 2004

Bromsgrove Concerts presents a weekend of six concerts centred around the music of Béla Bartók (1881-1945), including all six string quartets played by the Duke Quartet. They will be joined by pianist Rolf Hind for four of the concerts and Rolf will be giving a solo recital, which will explore the piano music of Bartók and other Hungarian composers.

The weekend also features chamber music by Alfred Schnittke and Dmitri Shostakovich.

To enhance your enjoyment of the music, there will be four talks by experts on Bartók and other Hungarian composers, and meals will be provided (these must be booked in advance).

The Duke Quartet, acclaimed for their passionate performances and breadth of repertoire, have played at Bromsgrove on three previous occasions. Rolf Hind, renowned as a leading exponent of the contemporary piano repertoire, has appeared here twice before. So it is especially pleasing to welcome all five musicians back to play in this exciting weekend of chamber music.

All events are in Spadesbourne Hall.
